About Hoovers Online

In 1990 Gary Hoover founded The Reference Press, which soon published its first book: Hoover's Handbook 1991: Profiles of Over 500 Major Corporations. The company began to move content online as early as 1992 when it provided company information to AOL's then few hundred thousand subscribers. Early to seize the opportunity of the Web, Hoover's Online was launched in 1995. The company now has nearly 90 editors, writers, and researchers. Hoover's went public on Nasdaq in 1999 and trades under the ticker symbol HOOV.

Features

Much of Hoover's information is available for free, with coverage of more than 65,000 companies worldwide. The Hoover's hallmark Company Capsules include company descriptions, key competitor and officer information, as well as financials on more than 18,000 public, private, and international companies, including the entire FTSE 100 and FTSE 250. Hoover's UK also features:

    About E*Trade UK

In 1998, ESI and E*TRADE Group founded E*TRADE UK. Defining the new territory where British investors can 'stalk' their next investment and 'pounce', timing their trade to the second. The launch of E*TRADE UK's online trading service is just a first step in a process which will fully exploit interactive channels to maximise benefits for the private individual over the years to come. Building on this vision, the aquisition of E*TRADE UK by E*TRADE Group in January 2000 promises to be a critical step towards the goal of developing the first global cross border network for online investors.

E*Trade UK offers several levels of service. Some of these require a monthly subscription while others, such as trading accounts, do not have a fee.
