Disadvantages of Spread Betting
There are also various disadvantages to spread betting that you should be aware of:
1) Losses could be higher. With many bets your losses could be limitless, at least in theory.
2) Spread bets are usually for short term gambles. Holding bets open for long periods of time can incur extra charges.
3) If you make a loss you cannot offset this against capital gains tax you owe for other investments.
